To celebrate the launch of Alexis's range of Artist quality prints, join us at Clever Hands Aigburth on Saturday 19th September for a special live painting session with artist Alexis Butterfield.

Alexis will be setting up from 9am, either inside the shop or outside depending on the weather, and will spend a few hours painting local scenery. There is even a chance the subject may be Clever Hands Shop itself. Alexis will be around until just after lunch time. 

Alexis is a painter with a particular interest in historic places, architecture and the way we experience and remember our surroundings. With a 25-year background in architecture, his work explores the character of buildings, streets and overlooked places, using painting, drawing and collage to capture more than just a straightforward view.

His mixed-media work often combines paint, ink, printmaking and collage, building up layers of colour, line and texture. Rather than aiming for a perfectly literal representation, Alexis is interested in the atmosphere, memory and history of a place, allowing each painting to develop through observation, research and experimentation.

This is a lovely opportunity to see an artist at work in real time, ask questions about his process and watch a local scene gradually develop on canvas.
