This mindful class will be hosted by Bev Evans, a Liverpool based Artist. Monotype or gel printing is a creative and expressive art technique which is easy to master with guidance.
Paint is applied with a roller to a gelli surface, stencils and texture techniques produce patterns before paper is applied over the paint to make a print. A gel or gelli plate is a rubbery soft surface a little like silicon, available in lots of different sizes. Bev makes her own plates from gelatine.
Printmaking can often require an expensive print press and oily inks. Here with the gel plate, we use regular water based acrylic paints and simple easily found materials. Focus for the class is on a pattern of flowers and leaves. Gel printing can sometimes make use of photographs and magazine cuttings, here Bev's class uses found textures, mark making and flat objects.

All materials and equipment will be provided for you to produce a series of prints on paper and/ or cards to take away. There will also be an option to buy your kit should you wish to continue printing at home.
In this beginners class, Bev shows examples for ideas from her own work, gives full instruction by demonstrations throughout the workshop supported by 1:1 guidance, make this as easy or difficult as you like! Use any of Bev’s paint colours or mix your own. Suitable age 11 upwards, under 16 please supervised with an adult.

Simply purchase your ticket, make a note in your diary and turn up! We do everything else. For terms and conditions of booking, please visit our policy section.
