A full day class hosted by studio owner and Artist Catherine, for those who already linocut and printed in the past, no longer a beginner looking to learn new skills and take their printing journey to the next level! Even just 1 single lino class previously makes you qualify for this!!

Start 10:30 to 4:30pm with breaks. Lunch you can bring along! Small group size 5 allowing for lots of guidance and interaction within the group. A full handout of notes is provided for students to take away.

For this class, you should have previously used a lino tool, be familiar with lino sheet material and used block printing inks. Ideally this will be recently (not 20 years ago...) as Catherine will not be going over any basics. If you would like to join but unsure if this will be a good class for you, please get in touch: hello@cleverhands.shop

The focus for the class will be 3 linocut techniques. For each, Catherine has examples to show along with demonstrations and 1:1 guidance due to small group size. Emphasis here will be on technique rather than finished projects, you will have the knowledge to go away and spend more time on these at home if you decide you like these newly discovered techniques!

Firstly jigsaw style multi colour printing. Using A5 lino, you will design something simple which can be cut into pieces with a craft tool allowing you to apply different colours to each part before assembling back together for print.

Secondly multi block printing. Design, cut & print a very simple project with 3 sheets of lino. Learn the principles of registration. An alternative is a reduction print method, all will be explained and demonstrated with chance for you to have a go.

Lastly a technique called chine colle and printing over prepared colour surfaces. If you enjoy collage with papers this will be a great one for you!

All materials and equipment provided, however bring along any that you already have.

Work with Catherine's templates or come up with your own idea, plenty advice available to show you a best approach. Try out Catherine's professional Pfeil tools, different cutting surfaces such as Japanese vinyl, or have a go with the specialist Lawrence rollers and print press to see if these are items you would like to invest in for your own art practice.
