Workshop The Art of Ink Illustration with Clare Curran: 3D butterfly

Clare Curran is hosting this inspiring workshop that celebrates the beauty of nature through fine line pen art. Clare’s work captures the delicate details of the natural world using just black ink on artist quality Bristol paper.

This relaxed and creative session offers a unique opportunity to meet Clare, explore her
portfolio, and uncover the inspiration behind her stunning illustrations.
During the workshop, Clare will share her expertise in the art of mark-making, guiding you through hands-on exercises designed to spark your creativity and build your confidence with fine line techniques. You'll then dive into a special project—creating your very own 3D butterfly.

Suitable age 12 upwards (under 16 supervised please, or get in touch to check), beginners or an experienced artists alike, this workshop promises to leave you inspired, skilled, and ready to bring your illustrative visions to life. In this class, you will draw a custom design onto a template, cut out the components, and assemble their butterfly into a striking three-dimensional piece. The butterfly will be assembled using the markings within the template. No glue required. We use scissors and craft knives. We will also craft a contoured leaf to accompany the butterfly to finish the lifted effect.

Each participant will get 2 butterfly templates if they want to make more than one butterfly on the day or take one home with them to continue their creative journey. Finished butterfly is 17 x 5 x 15cm.
