A beginner friendly creative workshop suitable for age 7 or over - equally also adults - a great social class to come along to either with family, friends or simply those who are creative and like making!
A crankie is a moving illustrated scroll fitted inside a decorated cardboard box. As the handles are turned, the pictures travel across the window, revealing the story one scene at a time, almost like a tiny handmade cinema.
During this imaginative workshop, you will invent your own superhero, plan an adventure and draw the story across a long paper scroll using coloured pencils, pens and other simple art materials. Your hero might embark on a daring rescue, battle an unusual villain, discover a secret power or travel to a completely imaginary world.
Tutor Laura will guide you through creating and decorating your crankie box before helping you fit the finished scroll inside. Once everything is assembled, you will be able to turn the handles and watch your story move across the screen. A great wy to learn how to use upcycle materials and simple household found items in a creative way.
We will finish the workshop by sharing our completed superhero adventures with one another in a miniature crankie cinema.
This workshop is suitable for children aged 7 and over, teenagers and adults. Attend independently, come as a family or book together for an unusual creative activity to share.
No previous art or storytelling experience is required. All materials are included, and each participant will take home their finished crankie box and illustrated story scroll.
