Watercolour is a preferred medium of many artists, the soft colours and luminous translucent effects cannot be achieved with other mediums such as oil paints.

Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, all materials and equipment are provided. Feel free if you already have some kit, to bring it along.

Hosted by Melanie Sullivan who has over 30 years experience as an Art teacher and Artist herself, this class is both relaxing & educational. Mel introduces watercolour as a technique from scratch, providing information about equipment and materials. As a beginner, it can be daunting to work out the kit needed to get started in terms of paint, brushes and papers! You will be gently guided through basic colour theory, paint your own colour wheel, try out different techniques with Melanie's tips for best approach to get started, with plenty 1:1 feedback and advice as you get familiar with techniques. Maximum group size 6.

Melanie will demo different techniques and offer hints and tips from her own experience along the way, referring to her own artwork examples. Working from a photograph of your choice, you will produce a complete painting to take away.
