If you are interested in traditional arts and looking to become more creative, this hour long class is a great starting point.

Why learn how to draw? Drawing is a wonderful creative outlet. Sketching has therapeutic benefits and educational advantages, promoting self expression and enhancing your perspective. You can combine drawing with other passions such as sport, animals, people or the natural world.

At Clever Hands, there's no such thing as a good or bad drawing. To take a pencil and make a mark on paper is a huge step that many people don't feel brave enough to do. In this fun and relaxed art class hosted by local Artist and tutor Melanie Sullivan, you'll see plenty examples of drawing and sketching techniques. The mystery of how to approach this key life skill is broken down into bite size easy tasks.

Very often, a bump in confidence along with simple guidance can set you on the right path to discover your creative self. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, all materials and equipment are provided. Feel free if you already have some kit, to bring it along.

Melanie introduces sketching as a technique from scratch and guides you through a series of short exercises to inspire and awaken your creativity: experimental portraits, non dominant hand, upside down drawing, sight size technique, mark making.

Learn from Melanie about the kit needed as an approach to drawing - pencils, charcoal, graphite, papers, inks.

Leave this class with the confidence and knowledge to continue at home, Melanie shares a note pack of ideas to take away, inspiring you to draw again. Looking for a more comprehensive class, look at the longer afternoon class Drawing and Sketching for beginners
