I'm Catherine & was drawing before I walked.
How difficult it is for any young adult to choose arts in life...with so much pressure to consume, to move and do everything fast, how are we ever supposed to choose arts over a steady job. In fact at first, I didn't. Don't get me wrong! I had a fantastic career in fashion & design, I travelled the world & climbed the ladder....but all I ever wanted to do was be creative for myself.
And now I am.
What is Clever Hands?
I love my job because it isn't a job. I create artwork for fun and also to sell. I teach others & share my studio with guest artists. Come along to a creative workshop and learn a new skill or simply to have time for yourself.
Creative kits
Prefer to learn at home in your own time? We created kits which have the materials & equipment you'll need to get started. A written guide is included, but you can also check out my videos to meet me in person and watch short tutorials.
Printing, felting, painting or willow weaving, we have something for every budget, these are packed by myself and 2 artist friends in the studio between classes. We wipe and check all the items, stamping by hand any boxes and stickers as we go. Each kit has a small batch, handmade feel. Don't need a full kit? We sell arts materials too.
Video tutorials
Having many years teaching experience, I know how much easier it can be to see a demonstration by hand rather than learning a new technique by reading a guide. The videos are short, easy to digest and you can often work at the same time as watching.
Gifting
A meaningful gift is the perfect way to show somebody special how you feel. We love to choose gorgeous eco friendly papers when we wrap a kit, hand written mesages on hand stamped tags are a perfect choice. Private tuition
It can often be daunting to join a group of unfamiliar people. Learning at home can be equally as tricky to get started without a helping hand!
I offer private tuition at a time and place to suit you, can be in my studio or at home, in a quiet cafe. Reasonably priced, I cater for single person sessions and also groups up to 30. Happy to travel. I also love to work with charities and groups who would not typically access the arts, please get in touch.
